Today there is an epidemic of sexually transmitted infections in the UK. The UK also has the highest teenage pregnancy rate in Western Europe. The Jewish community is part of these shocking statistics. JAT answers the unspoken need to provide religiously and culturally sensitive sexual health education to Jewish youth. Annually we train 3000 young people and their youth leaders, in mainstream Jewish schools, youth groups, summer and winter camps, those going on Israel tour and students. JAT is also developing a Peer Mentoring programme and we run a programme for parents on how to talk to their children about sex. JAT also provides support for people with HIV. We extend our services to the entire spectrum of the Jewish community and are not allied with any particular 'wing'.

In a safe, welcoming Jewish atmosphere, the JDA provides a wide range of support services for people with all levels of hearing loss and Deafblind people, such as one-to-one counselling, advice on specialised equipment, social and cultural activities. Elderly Jewish sign language users come to the JDA's unique Day Centre for a vibrant programme of outings, events and signed celebrations of Jewish festivals. For many it's a lifeline and the only contact they have with their Deaf friends. The JDA is a TOTALLY INDEPENDENT CHARITY, with plans for vital new projects that it cannot undertake until funding is secured. The JEWISH INSTITUTE FOR THE BLIND, JERUSALEM has served the blind and partially sighted children of Israel since its establishment in the old city in 1902. The Institute now housed at the entrance to Jerusalem has grown into a widely respected organisation excelling in providing specialist education and care to the exceptional child. The Institute provides education, rehabilitation, health and social welfare both on a residential and off-campus basis. The institute's protocol to this day remains " to help raise a student's self esteem so that they will not depend on others for help, but can become helpful members of society". The institute's centenary was honoured by the State of Israel through the issue of a postage stamp in its honour and it is currently proceeding with the continued modernisation of its dormitories and facilities to meet the growing needs of the blind child in the modern Israel. The Institute warmly welcomes all visitors from abroad to tour its campus. The British Aid Committee has provided UK support to the Institute since 1964 and greatly appreciates legacies and donations towards the Institute's continued growth.
