Leeds Jewish Welfare Board delivers an outstanding range of registered care and community support services, including three fully supported homes, positively changing lives for people of all ages. The organisation was formed at a meeting held on the 28 February 1878 in Leeds. Known as the Board of Guardians, the object of the organisation was to provide a broad system of relief to those who needed it and in so doing stop the need for door to door begging and to encourage people to embark on earning an honest livelihood.
The Nicky Alliance Centre provides a wide range of facilities and activities in a friendly environment, for older members of the community.
The Nicky promotes the independence of our members, some disabled and vulnerable, by offering a modern, fully resourced centre for members to meet and get involved in a wide range of stimulating activities. We have a fully equipped and professionally supervised art room, computer room with tuition, exercise classes and reminiscence sessions. A hot and nutritious kosher lunch is served, followed by live entertainment. Members’ facilities include a convenience shop, hairdressing salon, chiropody and multi-sensory garden.
The Centre also provides a Meals-on-Wheels service for those unable to cater for themselves and transport is available from Manchester, Salford and Bury.
